WPX Hosting Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?

WPX is a hosting company that only does WordPress. It is quick, it answers live chat in seconds, and it moves your site for you. Here is who it suits, what it costs, and what it does not do.

Nicada Digital has built and looked after more than 800 websites since 2014, almost all of them on WordPress. Hosting is the part clients never see and always feel.

Most small business owners never think about their hosting until something goes wrong. The site is slow, or it has been hacked, or it is down and nobody at the hosting company will pick up. By then you are paying for the cheap deal you signed up for three years ago.

WPX sells the opposite of that deal. It is not cheap. In return you get fast servers, a support team that answers in seconds, and the jobs you would normally pay extra for — moving your site, cleaning up malware, a CDN — already included.

We build and look after WordPress sites for a living. We have used WPX in the past and recommended it on our old website. This review says what it is good at, what it is not, and which plan to pick.

Our verdict: 8.5 / 10

The short version: for a small business or freelancer running WordPress, WPX is one of the safest picks there is. It is fast in independent tests, help is a chat window away at any hour, and almost everything is included in the price.

Skip it if: you are a developer who needs SSH, you have a very large site that needs lots of storage, or you just want the cheapest hosting you can find.

How we assessed WPX

We have used WPX before, but we are not hosting sites on it as of October 2026. So we do not quote our own speed tests. Speed results on this page come from the independent Review Signal benchmarks, and we say so each time.

Prices and features were checked on WPX's own order page and help pages on 1 October 2026. Where a claim is WPX's own, such as its chat response time, we say that too.

What WPX Actually Is

WPX is managed WordPress hosting. "Managed" means the company looks after the server side for you: security, backups, updates to the server software, and speed tuning. You look after your website. You do not get a bare server to configure.

It was started in 2013 by Terry Kyle and Georgi Petrov, first as Traffic Planet Hosting, and became WPX in 2016. It is based in Bulgaria and runs its own servers in three places: Chicago, London and Sydney. On top of that it runs its own content delivery network, which WPX calls the XDN. It keeps copies of your images and files at over 40 points around the world so pages load quickly wherever your visitor is.

What WPX Is Genuinely Good At

It Is Fast, and Not Only by Its Own Account

Every hosting company says it is fast. The useful question is who else says so.

The best independent test of WordPress hosting is Review Signal's WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks, run by Kevin Ohashi. It loads each host with heavy traffic for long periods and checks speed and uptime. WPX earned Top Tier in every price band it entered in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and again in 2026. There were no benchmarks in 2024 or 2025.

In the 2026 results it had the fastest static response in both the $25–50 and $51–100 a month bands, and the second fastest under $25. That is a long, steady record, and it matches what WPX claims.

Support Answers in Seconds

WPX says its live chat answers in about 30 seconds on average, 24 hours a day, and that the first person you speak to can usually fix the problem without passing you on. We cannot measure that for you, but its customers back it up: WPX's long-running Trustpilot page shows 4.7 out of 5 from more than 3,600 reviews as of late September 2026. Most of those reviews are about support.

For a small business this matters more than speed. When your site breaks at 9pm on a Friday, the difference between a reply in 30 seconds and a ticket answered on Monday is real money.

The Extras Are Included

This is where WPX earns back some of its price. On every plan you get:

  • Free site moves. Their team moves your site across for you, usually within 24 hours, with no limit on how many sites.
  • Malware scans and removal. If your site gets hacked, they clean it up. Many hosts send you to a paid security service for this.
  • Daily backups, kept for 28 days.
  • Their own CDN, free. No need to pay for a separate service to speed up images worldwide.
  • Free SSL certificates, the padlock in the address bar.
  • A staging area to test changes before they go live.

From the Business plan upwards you also get email at your own domain with unlimited mailboxes. If you currently pay Google or Microsoft per person for email, that alone can cover a good part of the hosting bill.

It Has a London Data Centre

For UK businesses this is a quiet advantage. You can put your site in London, close to the people visiting it, rather than on a server in the US. Many of the hosts you see in "best hosting" lists only have US servers on their cheaper plans.

Try WPX with 30 days to change your mind

Pick a plan and WPX move your site across for you, usually within a day. If it is not faster or better looked after, cancel inside 30 days for a full refund.

Where WPX Falls Short

None of these will matter to most small businesses. Some will matter a lot to the wrong buyer.

  • No SSH access. WPX gives you SFTP to upload files, but not a command line. If you are a developer who uses Git or WP-CLI every day, this is a real limit.
  • Storage is modest. 10GB on Starter, 20GB on Business. That is plenty for a normal business site, but a photographer with years of full-size images could run out.
  • Firm site limits. Starter holds one site, Business five, Professional fifteen. Staging copies and old test sites count, so plan ahead.
  • Only three data centres. Chicago, London and Sydney. The CDN covers the rest of the world for images and files, but there is no server in mainland Europe.
  • No phone support. Chat and tickets only. Given how fast the chat is, most people do not miss it.
  • WooCommerce results were weaker. In the 2026 Review Signal WooCommerce test, WPX's $149.99 store plan got an Honourable Mention rather than Top Tier, because checkout slowed under heavy load. Its normal WordPress plans did far better. See our WooCommerce hosting guide for more.
  • The monthly refund is limited. On a yearly plan the 30-day guarantee gives you everything back. On a monthly plan you only get the first month back.

WPX Pricing

Prices are from WPX's own order page on 1 October 2026, in US dollars, before any tax. The yearly price is the monthly cost when you pay for a year up front, which gives you two months free. Our WPX pricing guide covers the two to five year terms as well.

Plan Monthly Paid yearly What you get
Starter $17.99/mo $14.99/mo 1 site, 10GB storage, 100GB bandwidth. No email.
Business $29.99/mo $24.99/mo Up to 5 sites, 20GB, 200GB bandwidth, email with unlimited mailboxes
Professional $59.99/mo $49.99/mo Up to 15 sites, 40GB, 400GB bandwidth, email
Elite $119.99/mo $99.99/mo Up to 35 sites, 80GB, unlimited bandwidth, email

All plans have unlimited visitors. There are also three WooCommerce plans for online shops, from $34.99 a month, and an Agency plan for 200 sites.

Which WPX Plan Should You Pick?

  • One site, and you already have email sorted: Starter. It is the cheapest way in.
  • A small business that wants email at its own domain, or has a second site: Business. This is the plan we would point most of our clients at. The email alone often pays for the difference.
  • A freelancer or small agency hosting client sites: Professional. Fifteen sites, and much more memory for busy ones.
  • An online shop: one of the WooCommerce plans. Read our WooCommerce hosting guide first.

Pay yearly if you can. It costs less, and the 30-day guarantee refunds a yearly plan in full, so you are not taking more risk. On a monthly plan you only get the first month back.

WPX Compared With the Usual Alternatives

The hosts people most often weigh WPX against are SiteGround, Kinsta and WP Engine. In short:

  • SiteGround is cheaper in year one, then the price jumps at renewal. WPX's prices are its normal prices. Full detail in WPX vs SiteGround.
  • Kinsta and WP Engine are strong, well-known premium hosts. But their entry plans hold one site and are sized by monthly visits: about 75,000 on Kinsta's $35 Launch plan, 25,000 on WP Engine's Essential, with charges if you go over. WPX's Business plan holds five sites with no visitor cap, and includes email, for less.

How Moving to WPX Works

  1. Pick a plan on WPX's site and choose London, Chicago or Sydney, whichever is closest to your customers.
  2. Fill in their move request form from inside your new account. It asks for access to your current hosting.
  3. WPX copy your site across, usually within 24 hours, and tell you when it is ready.
  4. You point your domain at WPX. They will tell you exactly what to change.

Your old site stays live until that last step, so nothing goes offline while it happens. Keep your old hosting running for a week or two after the move, just in case.

Is WPX Worth It?

If your website brings in enquiries or sales, yes. The extra few dollars a month over budget hosting buy you speed that independent tests confirm, help that turns up in seconds, and a host that cleans up malware rather than billing you for it.

If your site is a hobby, or you are a developer who lives on the command line, there are better fits. For everyone in between, WPX is one of the hosts we are most comfortable sending people to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is WPX hosting any good?

Yes, for most small business WordPress sites. It came out top in the independent Review Signal speed tests in every WordPress price band it entered in 2026, support is by live chat around the clock, and site moves, malware clean-up, backups and a CDN are all included. It is a weaker fit for developers who need SSH, or for very large sites that need lots of storage.

How much does WPX cost?

Paid yearly, Starter is $14.99 a month (one site), Business is $24.99 a month (five sites plus email), Professional is $49.99 and Elite is $99.99. Paid monthly they are $17.99, $29.99, $59.99 and $119.99. Prices are in US dollars, checked on WPX's order page on 1 October 2026.

Is WPX good for UK websites?

Yes. WPX has a data centre in London, so you can put a UK site close to UK visitors. WPX say they do not charge VAT to customers outside the EU, which includes the UK. You pay in US dollars, so your bank may add a small currency fee.

Does WPX move my site for free?

Yes. Their team moves your site for you, usually within 24 hours, and there is no limit on the number of sites. It is only charged for if you also want the domain name changed during the move.

Does WPX have a money-back guarantee?

Yes, 30 days. On a yearly plan you get the full amount back. On a monthly plan you get the first month's payment back. You have to cancel formally inside the 30 days.

What are the downsides of WPX?

No SSH access, storage that is modest for the price (10GB on Starter, 20GB on Business), firm limits on how many sites each plan holds, only three data centres (Chicago, London and Sydney), and no phone support. Its WooCommerce plan was less impressive than its WordPress plans in the 2026 independent tests.

Who owns WPX?

WPX was started in 2013 by Terry Kyle and Georgi Petrov. It was first called Traffic Planet Hosting and became WPX in 2016. The company behind it is K Media Tech OOD, based in Bulgaria.
