B12 Website Builder Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?

B12 turns a description of your business into a working website in about two minutes, then bundles intake, scheduling, invoicing and contracts on top. For a solo professional, that is a lot of the business sorted in an afternoon.

We are a web design agency rather than a B12 reseller, so the verdict below is ours — including the parts that are inconvenient for us.

Heads up: B12 is a US platform — dollar pricing, and its invoicing and contract tools are built around US practice. The review below is the same wherever you are reading from, but we point UK readers at the routes that fit better. Nicada Digital has built and supported more than 800 websites since 2014, across small business, ecommerce and agency projects. We judge builders on what they are like to live with, not just to launch.

Most "AI website builder" reviews are written by people who generated one site, took a screenshot and moved on. We build and then look after websites for a living — more than 800 of them since 2014 — so the questions we ask are different. What happens in month eighteen? What happens when the owner wants to change something? What is this actually like to live with?

B12 has been going since 2015, says more than four million businesses have used it, and is backed by General Catalyst and SV Angel. It is aimed squarely at professional service businesses — consultants, coaches, lawyers, accountants, therapists, agencies of one.

Here is the thing that makes it more interesting than the category it sits in. B12 is not really trying to win a drag-and-drop contest with Wix. It bundles the website with the tools you need to actually run a practice: client intake, appointment scheduling, invoicing and payments, a contact manager, email marketing, and contracts with eSignature. It is competing with a website plus four other subscriptions — and on that comparison it does rather well.

Our verdict: 8 / 10

The short version: if you run a service business on enquiries, bookings and invoices, B12 solves more of your problem in one subscription than anything else in this category. B12 generates a complete first draft in about two minutes, and its AI agent means you can keep the site current by typing a sentence rather than booking time with a web person.

Two things to know: you rent it rather than own it, and it is the wrong tool if competitive search traffic is your growth plan. Neither is a dealbreaker for the business it is built for.

How we assessed B12

This verdict is based on B12's published plans and features, its subscription terms, and twelve years of building and looking after websites on comparable platforms. Prices were checked against B12's own pricing page in September 2026.

We have not built a client site on B12 — we build on self-hosted WordPress. So where this page describes how something behaves, we are reporting what B12 documents rather than our own build, and we say which is which. If you want a review from someone who has run a business on it for a year, this is not that, and we would rather tell you than pretend.

What B12 Actually Is

You do not pick a template and fill it in. You describe the business in plain language — or paste a URL, or upload a screenshot of something you like — and B12 generates a complete draft site with pages, layout, copy and images already in place. B12 put that at about two minutes, start to finish.

From there you have two ways to change it, and the combination is the best thing about the product:

  • Talk to the AI agent. "Add a pricing page." "Make the header darker." "Change the opening hours on the contact page to 8 to 6." It does the work and you review it.
  • Click and edit visually. There is a normal visual editor underneath for when you want to nudge something specific rather than describe it.

That matters more than it sounds. The reason most small business websites go stale is not that the owner does not care — it is that opening the editor feels like a job, so it never happens. We see it constantly on sites we look after. Being able to fix a detail by typing one sentence removes almost all of that friction, and of everything B12 offers, this is the part we think will matter most a year in.

What B12 Is Genuinely Good At

One Subscription Instead of Five

This is the strongest argument and it deserves to go first. On the Website + Client Engagement plan you get intake forms, appointment scheduling, invoicing and payments, a contact manager, email marketing, and contracts with eSignature — alongside the site.

Price that list separately and the sum gets uncomfortable quickly. A scheduling tool, an eSignature tool, an email marketing platform and a CRM will comfortably clear $78 a month between them, before you have paid for a website at all. One login, one bill, and the pieces already talk to each other. For a solo professional that is worth real money and real hours.

Speed From Nothing to Something Real

B12 put the figure at about two minutes from prompt to a complete first draft, and what they demonstrate is a coherent site rather than a wireframe. Even allowing for the usual gap between a vendor demo and a Tuesday afternoon, that is a different order of speed from the alternatives. For a business with no site at all, going from nothing to something presentable in a day has genuine commercial value — a decent site that exists today earns more than an excellent site still "being sorted out" in six months.

Non-Technical Owners Can Actually Maintain It

Here B12 beats most of its competition, WordPress included. Telling an AI agent what you want changed is a lower barrier than any visual editor, and far lower than emailing the web person and waiting. Sites maintained by their owners stay current. Sites that need someone else's diary do not.

A Dollar Gets You the Real Thing

New customers can take a full paid plan for $1 for the first 7 days — your own domain included. That is a much better way to judge B12 than the free plan, which is capped at 30 AI credits a month, sits on a b12sites.com subdomain and carries B12's own ads. For a dollar you get to build the actual thing and look at it.

One practical note: it renews at the normal plan price on day eight, and B12 do not issue refunds, so set a reminder for day six if you are undecided.

It Is a Serious Company

Worth saying, because the AI builder space is full of things that will not exist in three years. B12 has been going since 2015, has been through four million site builds, is funded by General Catalyst and SV Angel, and holds 4+ star ratings on G2, Trustpilot and Capterra. You are not betting your business on a weekend project.

B12 Pricing: What It Really Costs

Prices are from B12's own pricing page, checked in September 2026, in US dollars. The yearly figures are the effective monthly cost when you pay for a year up front, which saves 15%. Full detail is in our B12 pricing guide.

Plan Monthly Yearly What you get
First 7 days $1 — A full paid plan, your own domain included — the sensible way to evaluate it
Free $0 $0 b12sites.com subdomain, 5 AI credits a day (max 30/month), B12's ads shown
Website $24/mo $20/mo Your own domain (free year one), 100 AI credits/month, up to 10 projects, analytics, integrations, no ads
Website + Client Engagement $78/mo $67/mo Everything above plus 300 AI credits, 30 projects, custom email, client intake, invoicing, email marketing, contracts & eSignature
Professional $199/mo — B12's designers and copywriters build and launch the site for you. One seat. Phone support.
Advanced $399/mo — Expert-built plus five seats, monthly website updates, directory listings, priority support

The plan that makes B12 make sense is Website + Client Engagement at $78. The $24 Website plan is a perfectly good website plan, but on the website alone B12 is not the cheapest option and does not claim to be. The bundle is the argument.

Reading this from outside the US?

B12 is a US platform — the pricing is in dollars and the invoicing and contract tools are built around US practice. Everything above still applies, but if you are in the UK there are two routes that fit better.

Two Things to Know Before You Subscribe

Nothing here is a reason to avoid B12. They are the two facts we would want a client to have heard from us rather than discover later.

1. You Rent It Rather Than Own It

B12 is a hosted platform, so your pages live in B12's system, in B12's format. You own your domain and your content, but you cannot export the site and host it somewhere else. If you ever leave, you rebuild.

We make exactly the same point about Wix and Squarespace — it is the price of every hosted builder, not a B12 quirk. And for the business B12 is built for, it is usually the right trade: you are buying the fact that hosting, updates, security and backups are somebody else's problem. Renting premises is not a mistake either.

It only becomes a real question if you expect the site to become a significant asset that you will want to move, extend or sell. If that is you, the honest alternative is self-hosted WordPress, which is the comparison we make in B12 vs Divi.

2. There Are No Refunds

B12's terms state that payment obligations are non-cancelable and that they do not issue refunds or prorate fees for early cancellation. Plenty of SaaS companies have that on paper and are flexible in practice; we have no way of knowing how B12 behave. What we can tell you is what you are agreeing to.

In practice this changes one thing: use the $1 trial, and set a reminder for day six. Judge the product properly inside the week, and you are never relying on a refund in the first place.

One related detail worth knowing: the Website and Website + Client Engagement plans can be switched between, or dropped to Free, at any time. The expert-built Professional ($199) and Advanced ($399) plans cannot be downgraded to the self-build plans. Those two are a deliberate commitment rather than something to try for a month.

Where B12 Is Not the Answer

Competitive Search Traffic

B12 covers the fundamentals well — sensible structure, responsive output, quick pages — and for a local service business found by name, referral and local terms, that is genuinely enough. But if your growth plan is ranking for commercial keywords, publishing serious content volume, or controlling schema, internal linking and site architecture at a technical level, you will reach the edge of the platform and there is nothing you can do about it. That work needs WordPress, or it needs us.

Selling at Scale

There is commerce on the paid plans and it is fine for a handful of products or services. A real catalogue with real order volume belongs on WooCommerce or Shopify.

A Distinctive Brand

AI-generated design converges on the competent average, because that is what it learned from. B12's output is clean, modern and properly professional — it will not embarrass you in front of a client. It will not give you a brand either. If your market is crowded and design is how you intend to stand out, no generated site is going to do that job, whoever generates it.

Non-US Businesses, With a Caveat

Pricing is in US dollars and the business tooling — payments, invoicing, contracts, directory listings — is built around US practice. Nothing stops a business elsewhere using it, and plenty do, but check the invoicing and contract side fits how you actually bill before you commit.

Who Should Use B12

B12 is a good fit if…

  • You are a solo or small professional services business
  • You need a site live in days, not months
  • You take bookings, send invoices or sign agreements
  • You would rather have one bill than five
  • You will maintain the site yourself, by describing changes
  • Customers find you by name and referral

Look elsewhere if…

  • Competitive search traffic is your growth plan
  • You need to own and export your site files
  • You are selling at any real scale online
  • Your brand has to be visually distinctive
  • You already pay for tools B12 would duplicate

B12 vs the Alternatives

  • B12 vs Wix — Wix gives you more design control and a bigger app market. B12 gives you the client-side business tools without assembling them. If you want to design, Wix. If you want to run a practice, B12.
  • B12 vs Squarespace — Squarespace wins on design polish. B12 wins on intake, contracts and invoicing. Choose on which of those your business actually runs.
  • B12 vs Divi — rent a finished system, or own a site you can take anywhere. Genuinely different answers for different businesses.
  • Best AI website builders — where B12 sits against the rest of the category. It is our pick.

The Verdict

B12 is a better product than the "AI builds your website" pitch suggests, and the reason has little to do with the AI. The generation is fast and the output is good, but that is becoming table stakes. What B12 actually sells is a professional services business in a box — site, intake, calendar, invoice, contract, mailing list — and for the right business that bundle is worth more than the website is.

Add the AI agent, which is the first editing model we have seen that non-technical owners genuinely keep using, and you have something that solves the whole problem rather than the website-shaped part of it.

You are renting rather than owning, and it will not win you competitive search traffic. Know those two things going in and B12 is an easy recommendation for a solo professional who wants to stop assembling software and start taking bookings.

If you are still weighing it up, take the $1 week — it is a dollar, it gets you the real product on your own domain, and you will know within a day whether it fits. If you have already decided, skip the trial and pay yearly: it is 15% cheaper and there is no renewal date to remember.
