The Fastest WordPress Hosting in 2026

Every host says it is the fastest. So we ignored the claims and looked at the one long-running independent test. Here is who actually came out on top, and how to check your own site.

Nicada Digital has built and looked after more than 800 websites since 2014, almost all of them on WordPress. Hosting is the part clients never see and always feel.

Search "fastest WordPress hosting" and you will find hundreds of lists. Most are built on affiliate commissions and one quick speed test. Some are fair. Many are not.

So this page leans on one source: Review Signal's WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks, run by Kevin Ohashi and now published at wphostingbenchmarks.com. It has run since 2013. Each host is put under heavy, sustained traffic and checked for speed, errors and uptime over weeks, not minutes. Hosts are grouped by price, so you compare like with like.

The 2026 results are the first in three years; there were none in 2024 or 2025.

Before you read on

We are affiliates for WPX, which comes out well below, and for SiteGround, which was not tested in 2026. We would rather say that up front. The results are Review Signal's, not ours, and we have listed every host that earned Top Tier, not just the one that pays us.

The Short Answer

WPX has the strongest record. It earned Top Tier in every WordPress band it entered in 2026, with the fastest static response time in two of them. It was also Top Tier in every band it entered in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

But it is not alone. Pressable, WP Buzz and GreenGeeks also earned Top Tier in more than one band in 2026. If WPX does not suit you, those are where we would look next.

2026 Results, Band by Band

Under $25 a month

The biggest group, with 24 hosts tested. Top Tier went to 34SP.com, Bluehost, DreamHost, GoDaddy, GreenGeeks, ICDSoft, Lightning Base, Pressable, WP Buzz and WPX. Honourable Mentions went to 20i, Heart Internet and HostArmada.

WPX was the second fastest on static response at 5.9 milliseconds on average. It was tested on its $29.99 Business plan, which is a little over the band's limit when paid monthly. Paid yearly, Business is $24.99.

$25–50 a month

Top Tier: GreenGeeks, Pressable, Tangible, WordPress.com, WP Buzz and WPX. Honourable Mentions: Bluehost and Krystal.

WPX had the fastest static response in this band at 4.9 milliseconds, with no errors across more than 550,000 requests in the load test.

$51–100 a month

Top Tier: Bluehost, Pressable, Tangible, WP Buzz and WPX. Every host in this band coped well under load.

WPX again had the fastest static response, at 4.1 milliseconds.

What "fastest static response" means

It is how quickly the server sends back a page it has already prepared and stored. For a typical business website, where most pages are the same for every visitor, that is most of what your visitors experience. A few milliseconds either way will not be noticed by a person. What matters more is that the speed holds steady when lots of people visit at once, and every Top Tier host did that.

The Fast Hosts, Compared

Host 2026 Top Tier bands Good to know
WPX Under $25, $25–50, $51–100 Fastest static response in two bands. London, Chicago and Sydney servers. Malware removal and site moves included.
Pressable Under $25, $25–50, $51–100 Owned by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. Plans are capped by monthly visits.
WP Buzz Under $25, $25–50, $51–100 A smaller managed WordPress host. Top Tier in every band it entered.
GreenGeeks Under $25, $25–50 Budget-friendly, with a green energy angle.
WordPress.com $25–50 Very hands-off. Fewer controls than self-hosted WordPress on its cheaper plans.
34SP.com Under $25 UK host, Manchester servers, phone support. A good UK budget pick.

Not every well-known host was tested in every band. SiteGround, Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways and Hostinger were not in the 2026 $25–50 band, for example. That does not mean they are slow; it means there is no current independent result to compare.

Why We Put WPX First

Three reasons.

  1. The longest record. Top Tier in every band entered across six editions. A one-year result can be luck. Six is not.
  2. Fastest in two 2026 bands. Not just "good enough", but at the top.
  3. Speed is not the only thing it does well. Free site moves, malware removal, email from the Business plan up, and live chat that WPX says answers in about 30 seconds.

The honest caveats: WPX's WooCommerce plan was not Top Tier in the separate 2026 shop test, it has no SSH access, and storage is modest. Our full WPX review covers all of it.

Is Your Hosting Actually the Problem?

Before you move host, check that the host is what is slowing you down. In our experience the site itself is the culprit at least as often.

  1. Open PageSpeed Insights (pagespeed.web.dev) and test your home page.
  2. Find the time to first byte, or TTFB. That is how long your server takes to start replying.
  3. If TTFB is regularly over about 600 milliseconds on a simple page, the hosting is very likely part of the problem. Moving to a faster host will help.
  4. If TTFB is fast but the page still takes ages to appear, the problem is the site. Usually it is huge images, too many plugins, or a heavy theme or page builder.

Where Your Server Is Matters Too

The fastest server in Chicago will still feel slow to a visitor in Manchester, because every request crosses the Atlantic. Pick a data centre near most of your customers. For UK businesses that means London. WPX, SiteGround, Kinsta, Krystal and others all offer it. See our guide to the best WordPress hosting for UK sites.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fastest WordPress hosting?

On the independent 2026 Review Signal benchmarks, WPX had the fastest static response in both the $25-50 and $51-100 a month bands, and was second fastest under $25. It earned Top Tier in all three. Pressable, WP Buzz and GreenGeeks also earned Top Tier in more than one band.

How do I know if my hosting is slowing my site down?

Look at the time to first byte (TTFB) in a free tool such as PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix. That is how long the server takes to start sending the page. If it is regularly over about 600 milliseconds for a simple page, your hosting is a likely culprit. If the TTFB is quick but the page still loads slowly, the problem is usually the site: large images, too many plugins or a heavy theme.

Does faster hosting help SEO?

Speed is one of many things Google looks at, through its Core Web Vitals. Fast hosting will not lift a weak page to the top, but slow hosting can hold back a good one, and it costs you visitors who give up waiting.

Is managed WordPress hosting faster than shared hosting?

Usually, because managed hosts tune their servers only for WordPress and put fewer sites on each server. It is not guaranteed, though. Several budget hosts did well in the 2026 independent tests, so look at results rather than labels.

Where should my WordPress server be?

As close to your visitors as you can. If most of your customers are in the UK, choose a London data centre. A CDN then serves your images and files from locations near visitors elsewhere.

Move Your Site Without Lifting a Finger

Pick a plan, fill in WPX's move form, and their team copies your site across for you, usually within a day. If it is not right, you have 30 days to get your money back.
