Nicada Digital has built and looked after more than 800 websites since 2014, almost all of them on WordPress. Hosting is the part clients never see and always feel.
SiteGround is best known for WordPress hosting, but it also has its own drag-and-drop Website Builder, aimed at people who want a simple site or shop without learning WordPress. It competes with the likes of Wix and Squarespace, with SiteGround's support team behind it.
How we assessed it
We have not built a client site on the SiteGround Website Builder; we build on WordPress. This review is based on SiteGround's own product pages, prices and help articles, checked on 1 October 2026, plus years of building sites for small businesses.

Our verdict: 7.5 / 10
Good for: a simple brochure site or small online shop, built quickly, with a steady price and a support team you can phone.
Think twice if: you expect the site to grow a lot, or want the option to move it elsewhere later. That is what WordPress is for.
What It Does
You describe your business to the AI Wizard, and it builds a first version of your site around it. From there you edit by dragging and dropping, and the AI can write text and create images for you. SiteGround says most people publish within two to four hours.
- A template gallery and a library of 6 million stock images.
- A blog, added at the end of September 2026.
- Your own domain on every plan.
- 20,000 free AI Studio tokens a month, for help with marketing copy, ads and social posts.
- From the Sell plan: online selling with unlimited products, and an AI Store Agent that can change prices in bulk, create discounts and add products.
Prices
| Plan | UK (ex VAT) | US | Key features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build | £10/mo or £96/yr | $12/mo or $120/yr | Website, AI Wizard, 5GB |
| Sell | £20/mo or £180/yr | $24/mo or $216/yr | Online shop, 3% fee per sale, AI Store Agent, 10GB |
| Grow | £30/mo or £240/yr | $36/mo or $288/yr | 0% fee, customer accounts, wishlists, 50GB |
| Scale | £40/mo or £360/yr | $48/mo or $432/yr | 15 staff accounts, abandoned-cart emails, 100GB |
One thing we like: the price stays the same at renewal. There is no first-year discount that jumps later, which is more than can be said for SiteGround's hosting.
Which plan?
- A brochure site: Build, at £8 a month paid yearly.
- A small shop just starting out: Sell. The 3% fee is fine at low volumes.
- A shop taking more than about £1,000 a month: Grow. At that point the 3% fee on Sell (£30 on £1,000) costs more than the £10 a month difference.

The Downsides
- You cannot easily take it with you. We found no export tool, and SiteGround's help pages say file and database access are not available for Builder sites. Moving to WordPress later would most likely mean rebuilding.
- Less flexible than WordPress. No plugin library, and less control for search engine work at scale.
- The trial cannot be published. You can build and look, but not go live or connect your domain until you pay. If you do not buy, the trial site is deleted 14 days after the trial ends.
- A 3% fee on Sell. Fine for a small shop, but it adds up.
SiteGround Builder or WordPress on SiteGround?
| Website Builder | WordPress on GrowBig | |
|---|---|---|
| Ease | Easier. Live in hours. | More to learn. |
| Price | From £8/mo, same every year | £3.99/mo year one, then £23.99 |
| Flexibility | Limited to the builder | Thousands of plugins and themes |
| Moving later | Likely a rebuild | Easy |
If you want a simple site live this week and do not expect it to grow much, the builder is a good choice. If your website is central to how you win business, WordPress is the better long-term home. See our SiteGround hosting review, or have us build it.

Does the SiteGround Website Builder have AI?
Yes. Every plan has an AI Wizard that builds a site from a description of your business, plus AI text and image generation. Sell and above add an AI Store Agent that can make bulk price changes, create discounts and add products. Every plan also includes 20,000 free AI Studio tokens a month.
Can I sell online with the SiteGround Website Builder?
Yes, from the Sell plan up, with unlimited products. Sell charges a 3% platform fee on each sale; Grow and Scale charge 0%. Customer accounts and wishlists come with Grow, and abandoned-cart emails with Scale.
Can I move a SiteGround Builder site to WordPress later?
We could not find an export tool, and SiteGround's help pages say file and database access are not available for Builder sites. Moving to WordPress would most likely mean rebuilding the site. If you expect to outgrow a builder, start on WordPress.
SiteGround Website Builder or WordPress?
The builder is simpler and quicker: SiteGround says most people publish in two to four hours. WordPress, which SiteGround also hosts, is more flexible, better for search engine work at scale, and easy to move. For a simple brochure site or small shop, the builder is fine. For a site you will grow, WordPress.
