SiteGround Pricing: What You Really Pay

SiteGround's first year is cheap. Year two is not. Here is every plan, what it renews at, what three years really costs, and the plan we would pick.

Nicada Digital has built and looked after more than 800 websites since 2014, almost all of them on WordPress. Hosting is the part clients never see and always feel.

SiteGround's pricing is simple once you know the rule: the low price is for your first year, paid up front, and then the plan renews at its full price. Everything else on this page follows from that.

UK prices are from siteground.co.uk, checked on 1 October 2026, before VAT. US prices are from siteground.com in September 2026.

StartUp£1.99/mo£13.99/mo110GB
GrowBig£3.99/mo£23.99/moUnlimited50GB
GoGeek£5.99/mo£34.99/moUnlimited100GB

Plan First year Then
StartUp$2.99/mo$17.99/mo
GrowBig$4.99/mo$29.99/mo
GoGeek$7.99/mo$44.99/mo

SiteGround describes all three plans as having unlimited traffic, though its features page gives a rough guide of about 10,000, 100,000 and 400,000 visits a month for StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek. The first-year price needs 12 months paid up front.

You can also pay monthly, at a higher rate: SiteGround's help pages list £19.99, £27.99 and £39.99 a month. For most people the yearly first term is far better value.

What Every Plan Includes

  • A free domain name
  • Free SSL, CDN and email
  • Daily backups, kept for 30 days
  • Free site migrations with SiteGround's migration plugin (a move done by its team is a paid extra)
  • Automatic WordPress updates
  • SSH and WP-CLI
  • Collaborator access
  • SiteGround's website builder, with AI text and images
  • Free AI tokens and the AI Agent for WordPress (see our SiteGround AI guide)
  • Phone, chat and ticket support, 24/7

What GrowBig adds

  • Unlimited websites (StartUp holds one)
  • 50GB of storage
  • Staging, to test changes before they go live
  • On-demand backups, on top of the daily ones
  • Faster PHP (SiteGround says 30% faster)

What GoGeek adds

  • 100GB of storage
  • Staging with Git
  • White-label access, for agencies
  • Private DNS
  • Priority support

What SiteGround Costs Over Three Years

Because the price jumps after year one, the fair way to compare is over a few years. UK prices before VAT, then with 20% VAT added:

Plan Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 3 years, ex VAT 3 years, inc VAT
StartUp£23.88£167.88£167.88£359.64about £432
GrowBig£47.88£287.88£287.88£623.64about £748
GoGeek£71.88£419.88£419.88£911.64about £1,094

So GrowBig averages out at about £17 a month before VAT over three years, not £3.99. That is still fair for what you get. It just is not the number on the advert.

Which SiteGround Plan Should You Pick?

GrowBig: the one most businesses need

For £2 a month more than StartUp in the first year, you get unlimited sites, five times the storage, staging and on-demand backups. Staging alone is worth it: it lets you test a plugin update or a redesign on a copy before it touches your real site. If you are running a business, start here.

StartUp: one small personal site

Fine for a hobby site or a simple personal page. One site, 10GB, no staging. If you think you might ever want a second site, GrowBig saves you an upgrade later.

GoGeek: agencies and busy sites

Priority support, Git and white-label access, so clients see your brand, not SiteGround's. Worth it if you build and host sites for other people.

How to Keep SiteGround Costs Down

  • Diary the renewal date the day you sign up. Then you decide what happens, rather than finding out from the invoice.
  • Buy at Black Friday. SiteGround has cut first-year prices further in each of the last three years. See our SiteGround Black Friday guide.
  • Compare the year-two price with a host that does not raise prices, such as WPX. Our WPX vs SiteGround comparison works through the numbers.

Is SiteGround Good Value?

In year one, it is outstanding value. Over three years, it is fairly priced for a host with phone support, eleven data centres, staging, SSH and free AI tools. The only bad deal is the one you did not see coming, so go in knowing the renewal price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is SiteGround a month?

On siteground.co.uk in October 2026, before VAT: StartUp is £1.99 a month for the first year, then £13.99. GrowBig is £3.99, then £23.99. GoGeek is £5.99, then £34.99. The first-year price needs 12 months paid up front. In the US, the same plans are $2.99, $4.99 and $7.99 for the first year, renewing at $17.99, $29.99 and $44.99.

Why does SiteGround's price go up so much?

The low price is an introductory offer for new customers. After the first term, the plan renews at SiteGround's regular price. It is shown on the pricing page next to the offer, but many people do not notice it until the renewal invoice.

Can I keep the SiteGround intro price for longer?

No. The introductory price covers your first term only, which on siteground.co.uk is 12 months paid up front. The best way to pay less in year one is SiteGround's Black Friday sale, which has cut first-year prices further in each of the last three years.

Does SiteGround charge VAT in the UK?

Yes. Prices on siteground.co.uk are shown before VAT, and UK customers pay 20% on top. You can switch the site to show prices with VAT.

Is SiteGround GrowBig worth the extra over StartUp?

For a business, yes. GrowBig holds unlimited websites instead of one, has 50GB of storage instead of 10GB, and adds staging, on-demand backups and faster PHP. In the first year it costs £2 a month more.

Does SiteGround offer a free domain?

Yes. Every shared hosting plan on siteground.co.uk includes a free domain, along with SSL, CDN, daily backups and email.

Start Cheap, With Help on the Phone
